Quality in Design: A cushioned coil and precision fit assembly minimizes an irritating buzz or hum. Made of high-impact, precision-thermoset polyester housing, Furnas DP controls are more rugged than controls made of phenolic or thermoplastic resins.
Versatility in Design: Furnas Definite Purpose Contactors are used in an assortment of applications in the Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industries.
Flexibility in Design: Terminal Connections in a variety of styles from quick connects, box lugs or clamp screw. Snap on accessories for easy field maintenance. Dual voltage coils available for fewer components.
From general applications to special applications, Siemens offers a wide range of overload relays that provide superior motor protection. Overload relays are used to protect motors from excessive heat resulting from sustained motor overloads, rapid motor cycling, stalled rotor conditions and phase loss.
Solid-state overload relays are ambient insensitive, self-powered and do not require heater elements.
Ambient compensated bimetal overload relays are designed to compensate for the ambient air temperature surrounding the overload. This helps to prevent the occurrences of nuisance tripping. Additionally, they are automatic or manual reset selectable. Heater elements are required.
Current sensitive relays monitor motor current and provide an instantaneous output if the motor current is over or under an adjustable set point. These over or under current conditions may be the result of a change in system status such as a jam, broken belt or dry well. Start-up delay, trip delay and current trip adjustments are provided to match the current sensitive relay to a specific application.
Furnas offers the widest selection of 30mm pushbuttons designed for the NEMA markets. Offering both standard die cast metal and the ultra rugged BLACK MAX styles, you can feel confident using the best pilot devices available.

Pump controllers monitor flow and/or level variables and control a pump accordingly to maintain the desired levels. Pump control can include simply turning a pump on and off or more advanced controls for pump speed, output pressure, etc.
Installation is easy. Panels are factory wired to provide flexible control and protect against short circuits and overloads. Ample space is provided for field modifications and installation of accessories. Siemens offer the Full Voltage Type Class 87, Reduced-Voltage Type Class 88 and Vacuum Starter Type Class 87.
The full voltage starter pump controllers are specifically designed for the agricultural, petrochemical and other industries requiring pump control. They are built to withstand the harsh elements of the outdoors and are well suited for the most demanding environments.
Typical applications include:
The reduced voltage starter pump controllers are designed for the same applications and environments the Class 87 full voltage starter pump controllers serve. However, these controllers provide added protection for your equipment by stepping up the motor speed and thus reducing starting torque. The reduced voltage starter pump also complies with electrical current restrictions of utility companies.
Siemens manufacturers three most used reduced voltage pump controllers:
The vacuum starter pump controllers are designed for the harshest environments. Typically environments include chemical, petrochemical, waste water treatment and mining. Contaminations present in these severe environments are detrimental to conventional air-break contacts decreasing their life expectancy and reliability. The Siemens vacuum starter pump controllers are well suited for these environments because the contacts are contained in hermetically sealed contact tubes. This prevents contaminates in the atmosphere from affecting the operation of the contacts. Additionally, neither arcs nor arcing gases are produced which dramatically increases the electrical endurance of the contacts.
When a motor is energized by a full voltage starter, mechanical and electrical problems can occur. Potential mechanical problems include broken belts, gears or couplings or spilt or broken product. Potential electrical problems include deterioration of motor insulation or brown outs causing nuisance problems with other electrical equipment.
A reduced voltage starter helps to lessen these problems by reducing inrush line current and/or starting torque of a motor applied to the drive load. This is done by either reducing voltage applied to the motor during starting or by using only part of the motor windings during starting.
Siemens manufactures three commonly used electromechanical reduced voltage starters. Each one is designed for specific application requirements and consists of auto transformer, wye-delta and part-winding starters.
This type of starter is suitable for a general induction motor and is commonly used for the following applications:
This type of starter requires a motor with two separate windings and is commonly used for the following applications:
This type of starter requires a motor with an externally connected stator and is commonly used for the following applications:
The Siemens duplex motor controllers are specifically designed for industrial and commercial applications that require duplex controls such as duel pumps or blowers.
They perform one or both of two distinct functions: duplexing and alternation. The duplexing function provides capacity for system peaking or above normal demand without having both motors running at all times. It also provides standby capacity for use when one of the motors is disabled.
The alternation function reverses the lead and lag mode for the two motors in a duplex system. Upon alternation the first motor becomes the lag motor and the second motor assumes the lead function. The alternation is usually programmed to occur at any time both motors come to rest. The alternation function equalizes wear on the two machines and extends the life of seals and bearings.
Duplex motor controllers consist of two motor starters in a common enclosure.
Class 83 is a non-combination duplex motor controller. Class 84 is a combination duplex motor controller with two separate disconnects or circuit breakers.
